Not All Heroes Are People

Grammy sented this to Momma..it kinda goes along wif our Sept. 11 tribute. We're not sure where she gotted it from...we liked it, efun if it IS about a woofie.

No matter the storm, when you are with God, there's always a rainbow

NOT ALL HEROES ARE PEOPLE ~ ~ ~

James Crane worked on the 101st floor of Tower 1 of the World Trade Center. He is blind so he has a golden retriever named Daisy. After the plane hit 20 stories below, James knew that he was doomed, so he let Daisy go, out of an act of love. She darted away into the darkened hallway. Choking on the fumes of the jet fuel and the smoke James was just waiting to die. About 30 minutes later, Daisy comes back along with James' boss, who Daisy just happened to pick up on floor 112.

On her first run of the building, she leads James, James' boss, and about 300 more people out of the doomed building. But she wasn't through yet, she knew there were others who were trapped. So, highly against James' wishes she ran back in the building.

On her second run, she saved 392 lives. Again she went back in. During this run, the building collapses. James hears about this and falls on his knees into tears. Against all known odds, Daisy makes it out alive, but this time she is carried by a firefighter. "She led us right to the people, before she got injured" the fireman explained.

Her final run saved another 273 lives. She suffered acute smoke inhalation, severe burns on all four paws, and a broken leg, but she saved 967 lives. The next week, Mayor Guilaini rewards Daisy with the Canine medal of Honor of New York. Daisy is the first civilian Canine to win such an honor.

I hope you enjoyed this story. I thought it was terrific!

The 2,996- Sean Patrick Tallon

When aircraft crashed into the World Trade Center's twin towers, it was New York City's Bravest that did what they did best - head directly in to danger, in order to save lives. Firefighters, paramedics, and EMTs - side by side - as was the case so many times before.

Together with members of that city's Finest, they made their way to the heart of the tragedy. Grabbing their gear, the firefighters began rushing into the gigantic structures to assist with their safe evacuation, while the paramedics and EMTs began tending to the injured below.

It was while doing those jobs - in the kind of rescue that they had performed so well, so many times - that their lives were taken from us. (Taken from here)

Sean Patrick "Charger" Tallon was one of those such men. At 26, he had only a month or so left of being a "probie" (a probationary firefighter). Sean was one of the first responders, along with the other members of Ten House. Their station was right across the street from the World Trade Center. On the way up the stairs of Tower One, Sean helped a fellow firefighter that was having a heart attack, then he continued up with two more of his fellow firemen. They were trapped when Tower One collapsed.

Sean led an active and varied life. He was a Marine Corps Reservist. He also loved Irish music and playing the button accordion. He would practice for an hour or more on many evenings. The steady, easy flow of sweet hornpipes, tasty reels, and lively jigs would fill the house.

This is part of a song that was written for Sean, and was played at his funeral:

"Up the stairs boys, running to the top

Without a thought to slow or stop

Upstairs boys on 9/11 and they kept on going

to the gates of Heaven.

With the men of Ten House was Sean Tallon...

Although he wasn't the first, he wasn't the last...

With love of God and Country he never thought he could

see such acts of hate...

As we remember our Charger and the others

and shed a mournful tear for all his fallen brothers,

Although we didn't know them all,

we knew them well enough to know what they were made of...

And that was hero stuff.

written by Dereen and Marian Griffin

Sean left behind his parents, grandparents, sister and brother-in-law, and extended family in the United States, England, and Ireland, along with many friends. He is greatly missed by all.

May you rest in peace Sean Patrick Tallon. I would like to offer up this blessing:

Traditional Irish Blessing

May the road rise to meet you,

May the wind always be at your back,

The sun shine warm upon your face,

The rain fall soft upon your fields,

And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

Thank you for all that you and your brothers do and have sacrificed for all of us! You and yours will be in my prayers. ~Rebecca Buchenot

Emmy's supposed to go to the V-E-T tommorrow afternoon, but Momma might have to cancel that....again. Momma is going to go talk wif the naybor that lives next to the new guy and is between him and us (we bof live on the end of our buildings~momma). He had sed somfing a little while ago, before Momma talked wif the ofur naybors, 'bout takin' Emmy to live wif his mom. So...we're not sure what's goin' on right now. Is anycat else as confused as we are right now???

Momma's note~ Sorry for the confusion, but that's pretty much what's going on around here. We'll keep y'all posted.

Momma's sad

Tonight, while Momma and Daddy were watchin' a movie, they heared people calling for Emmy. Daddy tolded Momma that it wuz wrong for her to just bring her in wifout tellin' anyone. He didn't want the people to get mad and call the cops or anyfing like that. So Momma tolded Daddy that he had to put her back out...that she couldn't do it. Momma's eyes were leaking for a little bit after that. So after a little while...Momma wented to talk to the new bean living in the house. He said that he wuz gonna keep Emmy. So....we'll see. Momma sez that if she keeps seeing Emmy outside alot, then she might go talk wif him about us keepin' her. We gots to go snuggle wif Momma hand make her happy again.

Mimi update: Daddy is on the phone wif her right now. She's gettin' bored and is WAY ready to go home. We still don't know when that will be.

Emmy Update!

Well....Emmy is now living in our spare bedroom. Momma sez that Emmy has to stay in there until the V-E-T sez that there is nofing wrong wif Emmy. (Update 9/3- Emmy goes to the V-E-T on Tues morning) Momma doesn't want us to get sicky. So...that means that Emmy will be in there until next week sometime. But that's OK, she gots a bed, the 'puter, food, water, toys, NIP, and her own little litter box (which she has already used a few times!!)

Momma's note- 9/3 I let Emmy out for a little while this morning while the girls were still sleeping. She seems quite comfy here. There has been some hissing and spitting going on, but no swinging...yet. Kiara came out and saw her, and let Emmy know that this is Kiara's house. Nobody has really gotten to close to the others. I tried to put up a baby gate that I borrowed, but that just seemed to upset Emmy....she could see out put not get there. I have been visiting her in the room multiple times a day to try to help her get used to me. We'll update more after the vet visit. Wish me luck in getting her there!

Momma gotted to go watch Daddy fly today!!! She sed that he did a GREAT JOB and that she is furry proud of him. She video taped it for Mimi, since she's still in the hospital. But...Mimi is planning on coming out the ferst weekend in October to visit! Yea!

Tomorrow, we get to watch Momma yell at the movie picture box while she's cheering for Notre Dame! Go Irish!!!

Emmy

This am Emmy (short for Esmerelda, like in The Hunchback of Notre Dame). Momma and Daddy decided on that name 'cause she lives like a gypsy. Isn't she cute?? Momma likes her ear. She has a very sweet purr-sonality. She "lives " wif the family 2 doors up....but that don't take furry good care of her. So...Momma's been feeding her and making a warm place to sleep for the past few weeks on our porch.

The ofur day, the road got re-paved in front of our house...Emmy walked through it and now has tar on her paw fur and belly. Momma wented and talked wif the people about Emmy. She wuz kinda rude she said...heehee, go Momma!! But she offered to take Emmy if they didn't want her. The people sed that Emmy "doesn't like to be in the house" and that's why she's always outside. But, she keeps tryin' to come in our house!! Those people are moving too. Their 5 year old came to get Emmy, but she ran from him. Momma finks that that is why Emmy doesn't like to be inside! They also used to have a Pit Bull woofie!! Eeek! So Momma tol them "I don't want to take your pet from you, but.... and I don't mind looking after her while you move and decide what to do with Emmy. Just let me know." So.....it sounds like Emmy might be moving in wif us shortly. She camed into the house this morning and Momma held her and snuggled wif her and Emmy just purred and purred. But, 'afore she comes in to live, Momma's gotta take her to the V-E-T to have her checked out. Wish us luck.....we're not sure about each ofur...let alone a new poodin!

BTW.....Mimi is still in the hospital (as far as we know). Momma is gonna call her in a little while and will update more then. (Update: Mimi feels sorta OK...pretty sore from efurrything. They still don't know when she'll get to go home. She's been there for a week now!) Thanks efurryone for your prayers and well wishes! Posted by Picasa

More Updates

Mimi (Daddy's mom for those who don't know) is still in the hospital. She is still having pain and migranes. They have her on morphine for now. The doctors are going to do a scope and try to get the stone fragments out on Tuesday once some of the pain and swelling have subsided. Momma talked wif Mimi for a little while tonight. She sez that Mimi sounded good, but she (Mimi) wuz VERY SAD that she won't be coming out this week to visit. Momma told her that there are more important things to be here for than just this weekend.

We also gotted this email from Beau and his Mom:

I wish I had better news, but Luna is still missing. Today her human posted pictures of where she's lost and it's downright disturbing and scary. EVERYONE needs to go see those pictures. Looking at those pictures, we REALLY need to step up the prayer power in a big way. So, at 9 pm tonight (your time) I want everyone to pray hard she is found soon (and you might also say a prayer for Trixie and Mimi, and others, as well). It doesn't matter if prayers are said at the same time. An ongoing prayer vigil is just as good. Also, I would like to suggest you say a prayer for her at your meal times and around 8 pm each night. She needs to be found. At this point she is in real danger. Thanks!

We're gonna head off to bed and say our prayers wif Momma now. G'night efurryone!!

URGENT!!!

Help efurryone!!! Mimi wuz taken back in to the hospital this morning! They think that she has pancreatitis (Momma helped spell it). That's all we know right now, but Daddy is on the phone wif his brofur trying to find out more. If y'all could, PLEASE say a prayer for Mimi. We love her. She wuz supposed to come visit us on Thurs....not sure that she'll be able to now.

Also....Luna needs our prayers too! She got out while at the evil V-E-T and ran off into the forest. That happened on Tuesday and as far as we know, she still hasn't been found.

We fink that it's from Emmy, the cat that Momma has been feeding (more on her in anofur post). Then, when Momma gotted inside....one of us had frown up on the living room carpet!!! Heehee! Momma wuzn't too happy wif any of us today! Our tummy is all better now.

Hi efurryone!

We just founded out that Mimi has to have her gall-blad-er out. That dosen't sound like much fun to us. Uncle Brian hadded to drive her to the bean V-E-T at 2:30 this morning. Mimi must not have been feeling good at all if she let him drive!! She's having her surgery tomorrow (Tues) at 10:30 in Texas.

Momma and Daddy's niece is doing well and getting bigger efurry day.

That's all for now...we're still trying to find the pictures we took.
